About the Work

Escape in London, to me, means discovering quiet outdoor spaces rich in history, art, and nature. These hidden places not only offer a welcome break from the rush of the city, but also provide inspiration for my own art through the architecture, sculptures in the backdrop of the lush greenery. I chose this piece because it combines all my interests in one playful, layered image.

As a dog lover, discovering the dog sculpture in St Pancras Gardens funded by Victorian animal welfare advocate Baroness Burdett-Coutts was a happy surprise. I wanted to combine my favourite elements of the garden into one scene featuring a gigantic dog, transforming the garden into something unexpected and joyful. The title is a nostalgic nod to one of my favourite childhood TV programs, reflecting the imagination and escapism that both the garden and the artwork evoke.
