About the Work

What brings me joy is discovering quiet outdoor spaces rich in history, art, and nature. These hidden places not only offer a welcome break from the rush of the city, but also provide inspiration for my own art through the architecture, sculptures in the backdrop of the lush greenery.

I have chosen to present these dog sculptures as a metaphor for the joy of discovery and the unexpected beauty of the natural world. I use a collection of photographs I have captured to create a layered image that is both playful and thought-provoking. I experiment with using black and white to create a sense of depth and contrast. I also use a combination of digital and analogue techniques to create a sense of the unexpected and the unexpected beauty of the natural world.

Inspiration

As a dog lover, discovering the dog sculpture in St Pancras Gardens funded by Victorian animal welfare advocate Baroness Burdett-Coutts was a happy surprise. I wanted to combine my favourite elements of the garden into one scene featuring a gigantic dog, transforming the garden into something unexpected and joyful. The title is a nostalgic nod to one of my favourite childhood TV programs, reflecting the imagination and escapism that both the garden and the artwork evoke.
